No visitor to Lanzarote can be unaware of the enormous contribution made to the islands heritage by Cesar Manrique who died some 10 years ago. Born in Arrecife, originally trained as an artist, he achieved international renown before returning to the island to defend it’s development against indiscriminate tourist development. He was retained by the island to design and build a number of attractions using his unique style of eco architecture. Samples of his creations are included below
